20 years of Strutting

My journey in the world of dogs began in 2004, working hands-on as a professional dog walker. In 2008, I became a certified dog trainer and behavior consultant through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), building a career rooted in practical experience, continuing education, and a lifelong passion for understanding dogs.

I’ve spent more than two decades working with dogs and their people, with a particular interest in helping families better understand behavior, communication, and the relationship they share with their dogs. I’m also the author of a book on leash walking in urban environments.

This year marks 22 years of City Strut, a milestone that feels especially meaningful as I begin this next chapter in Bend, Oregon.

Today, my husband, Josh, operates Call of the Wild, offering dog hiking adventures throughout the Bend area. I’ll be offering a new series of small-group gatherings called Dog Circles—thoughtful, supportive discussions around topics such as kids and canines, canine nutrition, grief and loss, adolescent dogs, behavior, and more.

My goal with Dog Circles is to create an accessible, welcoming space where people can find support—not only from a professional, but from one another. I believe some of the best learning happens when we bring our questions, experiences, and challenges together. When we share what we know, we all learn more.

I’ll also be offering a limited number of dog hikes because, after all these years, getting outside with dogs is still one of my happiest places to be.

My approach is wholistic and realistic

Individualized Training

Every dog and every household is unique. That’s why I take an individualized approach to training, creating customized programs that address your dog’s specific needs while supporting the goals and realities of your family.

I begin by sitting down with you and creating space to understand what’s happening—for both you and your dog. Together, we’ll explore your dog’s behavior, your family’s needs, and the goals you hope to achieve.

From there, we’ll develop a thoughtful, practical plan that feels realistic for your household and work together to put it into practice. My goal isn’t simply to change your dog’s behavior—it’s to help you better understand one another and build a relationship that works for everyone.
